Fired & ground Missouri “flint” clay. A coarse aggregate added to clay bodies to prevent cracking of large forms by reducing dry shrinkage. Also used to create rough textured surfaces and colour variation in dark clay bodies. Finer kyanite and mullite grogs suitable for throwing are also available.
